WORKSHOP WITH ARCHITECT EMILIO TUNON

A few students of our department, including me, had the honour to do a workshop with architect Emilio Tuñon. We got the assignment to make a transformation of the Fornsworth House designed by Mies van der Rohe, we worked in small groups of four students.
Mies van der Rohe worked a lot with the enviroment and the surrounding nature when designing. We liked the idea of just tranfsorming his concept. Instead of just one farnswoth house, we made a whole village by duplicating the unit into chains that fit like a puzzle. Knowing that we got a location for our project with a lot of trees, we also changed the eye level. In this way the residents can have a horizon of tree tops and when walking underneath the whole construction you will have the illusion of walking through a forest of steel pillars.
